R12 Groundworks & Construction is a family-run business based in Winterbourne, Bristol. With 60 years of combined experience between us, we work across the Midlands and South West on everything from domestic driveways and garden projects through to large commercial groundworks and civil engineering contracts.
Founding Story
R12 started on the tools.
Nigel and Scott spent years working together for the same groundworks company before eventually taking different paths. Scott was the first to branch out on his own, driven by ambitions that stretched beyond what was available to him at the time. Nigel followed a few years later, setting up his own business with the same desire to build something better.
Although they worked independently, they stayed in regular contact, sharing projects, ideas and a genuine passion for the industry. It quickly became clear they shared the same approach to construction — high standards, straight talking and a commitment to doing the job properly.
After several years running their own businesses, they decided to join forces and create R12 Groundworks & Construction Ltd. Combining over 60 years of industry experience, they built a company capable of delivering both commercial and domestic projects with the same level of care, professionalism and attention to detail.

Meet the team
The people behind R12
When you work with R12 you deal with Nigel or Scott directly — not a sales team, not an account manager. Just experienced people who know what they’re talking about.
Nigel
With over 40 years of experience in the groundworks and civil engineering industry, Nigel brings a wealth of knowledge to every project R12 undertakes. Having worked for leading contractors throughout his career, he co-founded R12 to create a company built on quality workmanship, honest advice and exceptional customer service.
As a Director, Nigel is involved in the day-to-day running of the business, overseeing project planning, pricing, procurement, health and safety, and site supervision. Drainage, excavation and infrastructure works are particular areas of expertise, but after four decades in the industry there are very few challenges he hasn’t encountered.
Nigel believes that strong communication, reliability and attention to detail are key to delivering successful projects. Outside of work, he enjoys following motorcycle racing and spending time trackside whenever he can.
Scott
With more than 21 years of experience in the groundworks industry, Scott brings a hands-on approach and strong technical knowledge to every project R12 delivers. After spending 15 years with a major groundworks contractor and later running his own successful business, he co-founded R12 to provide clients with a reliable, professional and customer-focused service.
As a Director and working site supervisor, Scott remains actively involved in projects from start to finish, overseeing site operations, health and safety, programme delivery and quality control. His extensive experience across all aspects of groundworks, combined with specialist management and plant operation training, helps ensure projects are completed safely and efficiently.
Scott takes great pride in client satisfaction and believes going the extra mile is what sets R12 apart. Outside of work, he enjoys playing football and spending time with family and friends.
